Endurance Spice Measuring Spoon Set

Endurance Spice Measuring Spoons
Most measuring spoon sets come with round spoons. This design isn’t a problem most of the time, but I’ll run into a problem with it from time to time because those rounded spoons won’t fit into some of my smaller jars. This happens with spices, especially with those stored in smaller jars, and even with some sugars that I keep in small containers, such as vanilla sugar or lemon sugar. The large spoons just don’t fit into the mouths of those jars and, frankly, it would be nice not to have to resort to only using the 1/4 teaspoon measure to get those spices out. One solution is to switch to measuring spoons that have a more streamlined design that will allow them to fit inside of spice jars and other narrow spices, like this Endurance Spice Measuring Spoon Set. The set includes 1/8 tsp, 1/4 tsp, 1/2 tsp , 3/4 tsp, 1 tsp and 1 tbsp measures, all with a long, narrow design. For the smallest measurements the design may not make a difference, but it is a pleasure being able to fit that tablespoon measurement into a jar with no-fuss. Many people will also find the addition of the 3/4 tsp measure, which is not found in most basic measuring sets, comes in handy more often than you’d think (I find that gingerbreads and other spice-heavy recipes often call for 3/4 tsp measures).

I’ve got a set of these, and I love them! You’re right – those round spoons just don’t work well for getting at spices.

I have this measuring spoon set and LOVE it! When we renovated our kitchen, we put in this spice rack: http://www.beantownbaker.com/2010/01/week-of-kitchen-renovations-spice-rack.html The spice jars have a pretty small opening and these spoons are the only ones I can fit into them!

How many times have I said to myself (grumbled to myself) why don’t they make the freakin jars big enough to fit the stupid spoon in????

well, now I don’t have to lose my temper. 🙂

    thanks!

I’ve been using these for years and I LOVE them. I love the 3/4 tsp measure; wish there were a 1/2 tbs but using the 3/4 twice accomplishes that. Makes halving recipes a cinch.

I have 2 sets. I keep one in my baking area and another close to the stovetop.

Did you say where they were available? I have no idea where I got my first set and I did quite a bit of searching to find my second one. But that was years ago and I’ve forgotten where that was too. Worth the search, tho.

    Jen-

What a fabulous spice rack! I almost didn’t open the link since I was expecting more of the conventional approach.

I use square jars too for their space efficiency. I just get the Whole Foods spices in square jars and then refill them from the bulk I get at Penzeys.

Anyway, thanks for sharing that resource. It’s clever, efficient and very attractive. I look forward to exploring more from that site.

I saw these in a shop in the city where my Mom lives and after continuing to think about them, I tracked them down here in the city where I live. I actually love them so much I bought a set for my Mom also! Love love love!

I own these too! I love them! I have a set of plastic spoons where the measurement wore off, so I love that the measurement is engraved in permanently. And I love how sturdy they are and their straight handles, so I can use one spoon to level another. The 3/4 measure is pretty handy!
