Retro Arcade Cake Pan

Retro Arcade Cake Pan
I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one who spent a fair amount of time in the 1980s playing games like Pong, Space Invaders and Pacman. After all, there were no food blogs around at the time to follow and I had do to something to pass the time! It must be nostalgia that makes this Retro Arcade Cake Pan so appealing, then, because you can use this silicone pan to make your own “baked invaders” that will definitely conjure up memories of all those great classic video games you played back in the 80′s. The simple cake pan has a geometric design that looks very similar to the alien aircraft from Space Invaders. A cake baked in this pan will pop out easily, thanks to the nonstick silicone, and features a little face that is cute and menacing at the same time.

The pan would be perfect for making birthday cakes for anyone who remembers these games, and would probably be a hit with younger kids who have played updated (but still “retro”) variations on iPhones and on the computer. In fact, I can think of at least a few friends of mine who would love to see a small squadron of cakes in this shape show up on a dessert table. Chocolate cake is a good choice for this design, but if you have the time and inclination to make more than one cake, use bright primary food colors in a white or yellow cake batter to give them an arcade look. See if you can find some paper plates with a space theme and you’ll have a dessert that will make a big impression in looks and in flavor.
