  • Pastry Pal‘s White Chocolate Raspberry Tart is one of those showstopping desserts that your eyes will keep drifting to on the dessert table long before it is sliced. The tart is actually relatively simple and much easier to put together than it looks. It starts with a buttery tart shell that is spread with a thin layer of raspberry preserves and then piled full of a white chocolate mousse. Fresh raspberries finish off the tart and, after a a short stint in the refrigerator, your tart will be ready to serve.
  • Muffins aren’t usually frosted, but if you sat down to find a plate full of the cute Gingerbread Muffins that Donal Skehan baked, I doubt you’d pause to complain before taking a bite! The muffins are full of fragrant spices and rich-tasting dark brown sugar. The cinnamon-kissed cream cheese icing that tops them really adds a lot of flavor and moisture to every bite, and it also gives you something to adhere little gingerbread men to if you have some little cookies sitting around to act as garnish. These can be enjoyed for breakfast or for dessert.
  • Another gingerbread creation comes in the form of waffles, The Moonlight Baker‘s Gingerbread Waffles with Vanilla Cranberry Sauce. These waffles might sound “exotic,” but they’re an easy to make variation on buttermilk waffles that have been spiced up with molasses, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. The cranberry sauce is where things move from good to great, as the sauce is a very flavorful stand-in for syrup. It’s made with fresh cranberries, orange juice, maple syrup and vanilla – and you might want to make a big enough batch to get you through a few breakfasts, because this goes well on pancakes, oatmeal and yoghurt, too.
  • Creamsicles are a summertime staple, with their mixture of bright orange sherbert and creamy vanilla ice cream. A Baked Creation‘s Orange Cupcakes with Vanilla Cream capture a similar flavor in cupcake form, suitable for eating all year round. The cupcakes are made with orange juice and lots of orange zest, for a bright and fresh flavor. They are topped off with an orange-colored cream frosting, made with cream cheese, vanilla and honey. If you really want to get creative with these, try filling the cupcakes with some of that frosting, too!
  • As much as I like homemade marshmallows on their own, one of the best things about a from-scratch recipe is that you can add all kinds of flavors to customize your marshmallows. Peppermint, for instance, will really perk up a cup of hot chocolate. Chocolate Malt Marshmallows, which Piece of Cake whipped up, might not even need the hot chocolate in the first place. These marshmallows have cocoa powder and malted milk powder in them, giving them a malt-shoppe flavor. They’re rolled in a little bit of finely chopped chocolate shavings to further emphasize that chocolatey goodness.
