Easter is right around the corner, and holidays are such a great time for giveaways that I can’t resist doing one with an Easter theme to it. I’m giving away Wilton’s 3D Bunny Cake Pan and a set of oh-so-cute jellybean potholders. To win, simply leave a comment that mentions your favorite Easter dish (or other spring holiday dish if you don’t celebrate Easter) below! A winner will be selected randomly from the comments below and entries will close at 12 noon (PST) on Friday, March 26th. This leaves plenty of time for the pan to arrive before Easter so you can use it next weekend! Be sure to leave your e-mail address in the comment form (not in your comment) so that I can contact the winner for a mailing address.
There is a little bit of small print with this prize and that is the fact that this pan is not brand new and has been used by me a few times to test it out and bake up an Easter bunny cake. A post about the bunny cake will be coming up in the next day or two and you can double your chances of winning by looking out for that post and commenting on it, too. The cake pan will be all cleaned up and back in it’s box for mailing, ready to use when it arrives at your door.
And as for my favorite Easter dish? It’s hard to choose just one thing, but if pressed I’d have to say that deviled eggs are near the top of the list, followed by Peeps Cupcakes, which are a current favorite. Peep S’mores are very tasty, too, but I’d be hard pressed to call them an actual dish!
Update: The contest is now closed! Thanks for playing everyone. I can’t wait for Easter with all these great food ideas!

March 23, 2010Hmmm…favorite dish? I mostly live for sweets, so I’m not sure, other than I love having the extra hard-boiled eggs around the house to munch on. I like them with Ritz crackers. What can I say, I’m pregnant. I guess for an actual dish, I’d have to go w/ pineapple upside-down cake.
My daughter would get a total kick out of this cake pan!

March 23, 2010That cake pan is ADORABLE!
Aside from enormous amounts of candy the only things I remember having every year for Easter were pineapple glazed ham and 7-layer salad. I always hated 7-layer salad though because of the mayo in it… just thinking about a 1/2inch thick layer of mayo on top of anything makes me shudder! But I do loves me some ham! Especially at my Gramma’s Easter dinners because she put the cherries inside the pineapple rings but my mom never did! 😀

March 23, 2010Just one favorite Easter dish?? That’s tough! I LOVE deviled eggs, honey-cured ham, you name it. My mom’s lamb cake is a family favorite, though–she has this really old lamb-shaped cake mold that she always uses to bake a white or yellow cake in, and then she’ll frost it with white frosting. She uses food dye to dye coconut flakes green, and she arranges those around the base of the lamb as ‘grass’. Raisins make up the lamb’s eyes and nose, and she also puts jelly beans in the grass around the base. It’s beautiful for all of 5 minutes, until everyone attacks it! =)

March 23, 2010My husband is Polish and I was fortunate enough to get his grandmother’s Poppy Seed and Walnut loaf recipe. It had ingredients like ‘5 cents of yeast’ and some of the words were covered in probably dried dough right on the page. But we took a long weekend of deciphering and made them. We’ve been making them for Easter for over 20 years. And while some years those loaves are more awesome than the next, they never seem to last until the next day!

March 23, 2010My husband and I live away from our family and we have people where we live now who have adopted us. So that and strawberry shortcake are my favorite Easter foods.

March 23, 2010Being Dutch, I love my stollen (bread with almond paste inside), but there were plenty more Easter traditions (baking wise) in my house! You have inspired me to talk about them over the next few blog posts.
In Norway, they traditionally eat eggs whipped up with sugar (yes, raw!) and perhaps a sprinkling of Nesquick. Sounds disgusting, but is delicious!
