Even though I don’t do much baking specifically for dogs (the occasional batch of dog treats aside), I couldn’t help but notice these Dog Bone Cake Pans when I came across them while shopping the other day. The Dog Bone Cake Pan is a nonstick cake pan that is shaped like a dog bone. It comes in two sizes – a smaller 9.5×6.5-inch bone and a larger 10×13-inch bone – and can be used for both big batches of dog treats and for “people” cakes. They’re very cute for the birthday parties of kids who love dogs.The other dog bone pan is actually a 6-cup Dog Bone Muffin Pan, which is also nonstick and bakes little cakes or muffins in the shape of bones. Again, you can use them bake dog treats, but they will work just as well for any other muffin or cupcake recipe. If you want to have bone-shaped cakes, don’t fill the cups up all the way. This way, the rise of the cakes will be limited to the size of the pan, leaving you with a nice, smooth bone-shaped cake. If you don’t mind getting a muffin top, feel free to fill these higher with batter when you bake. I found these pans at Target, but believe that they’re available at some other retailers, including those that carry specialty pet gear.
