Maybe it’s because I’m a fan of pineapple, but the Aloha Bundt Cake Pan made me smile the first time I saw it. The pan is from Nordicware and is made up of six small pineapple shapes that form into a ring. The pan is made of heavy duty cast aluminum and has a 10-cup capacity as well as a nonstick finish. The pan has a lot of detail to it, but unlike some other bundt pans, it doesn’t have anything so extreme – like a narrow tower on a castle-shaped pan or the petals of a rose – that would make it difficult to get it out of the pan intact. The pineapple spikes are close to the body of the cake, with no space for cake to get stuck in as it bakes.A pineapple cake would be a good choice for this pan, of course, but so would orange, lemon and other citrus flavors. Plain pound cake would be lovely, too, as there is no reason to leave the flavors married to the shape of the pan. That said, I probably wouldn’t be able to resist using at least a little pineapple (as garnish, if nothing else) every time I brought a cake baked in this pan out.

A glaze might work better than frosting.

July 20, 2009When I saw the pan today in your post, I got interested. They really look nice for baking and will serve a good gift for any celebration. This is an excellent edible party favors for kids and adults too. What would be the effect if I put strawberry bits? Hmmnn.. interesting.

July 22, 2009cute but I actually would think this would be cuter to make as individual pans – like mini cakes. The pineapple concept doesn’t work for me as a bundt cake. I think they are a little too close together and unless you were having a Hawaiian themed party, it might not be clear as to what the actual shape is.
