Cadbury Creme Egg Twisted, reviewed

Cadbury Creme Egg Twisted Bar

Cadbury Creme Eggs are a staple of the Easter season. Even if the sugary fondant center is a bit too much to handle all at once, the creamy milk chocolate and the gooey filling is a delicious combination. I like the mini Cadbury Creme Eggs because they have a little bit better ratio of chocolate to filling for my tastes, but I recently got to try a Cadbury Creme Egg Twisted, which was even better.

The Creme Egg Twisted bar is a UK release from Cadbury. It’s a hollow log of their classic milk chocolate that is filled up with a yellow and white creme egg center. The bar is maybe 1/2 in diameter and about as long as a Twix bar is, with thick ridges (“twists”) running all along the bar. I would say that the ratio of chocolate to filling is perfect, just about 1-to-1. The creamy, milky taste of the chocolate, even though it is on the sweeter side, is a great contrast to the sugary filling and balances it out without dominating it. It’s nice that you can break the bar into a few sections as you eat, so that you don’t really have to consume the whole thing in one shot, unlike a creme egg.

This bar is not just an Easter item in the UK, but is available year-round. Even though this bar is probably not going to be widely available – if at all – in the US this Easter season, I can’t resist mentioning it just because of the tradition of creme eggs around the holiday. So if you’re a fan of those eggs, keep an eye out at import stores or if a friend is taking a trip overseas!

Oh yum! My roommate in college always bought the “first creme egg of the season” whenever they hit the stores each year. I’d never had one until then. I thought they looked scary, but they are so good! 🙂

Mmm, yes, the Creme Egg is indeed a thing of goodness. I’ve got a really sweet tooth, so I prefer the original to the Twisted. But, fellow Creme Egg fans, there’s a Greek delicacy you must get hold of. It’s called “Vanilla Sweet”, and is basically creme egg filling in a jar. It’s traditionally served by the spoonful in a glass of water (it doesn’t dissolve, you eat it off the spoon and drink the water when the sugar gets too much). Mmm-mmm!

We always challenge people to eat the entire egg in one go. Oh how priceless the faces get with a mouth full of that much sugar!

  • Oh those Twisters look ‘to die for!’ I love the originals, but those look even yummier. I gotta find some. I’m on a mission. LOL

I’m living in Scotland, and tried these the day they came out. I LOVE THEM! But sometimes, I just crave the original creme egg. Good thing I can get them anytime I want here in the UK. No holiday required!

The creamy milk chocolate and the gooey filling is a delicious combination. Great combination indeed. Just cannot stop thinking about having a bite. There is one problem though. Cadbury does not release these sweets in India though. I love to see this sweet in India. I think Cadbury will make money with it.

“Man, Cadbury makes so many good products that aren’t available in the States…what a bummer. That does look good!” — I agree! There are lots of other goodies that are similar but I don’t think they could possibly be as good as these would be. Come on, share with us…

Ok I guess I’m the odd ball out here. While I do love my chocolate from time to time, that chocolate egg is just a little too realistic looking. It looks like an actual egg falling out of the chocolate, which isn’t too appealing.

Yummy. I always prefer to taste the creme egg. I could sense it is a mouth watering chocolate from Cadburys. I am eagerly waiting for it to be released in my place. A person who commented here is skeptical about the chocolate and creme egg is nor realistic. I think otherwise. I really believe it is a great combination and it is tasty too.

Do you think they are smaller now than they were 15 years ago? It’s a big debate! They used to be 10 times the size – or at least they seemed to be!
