Hershey’s New York Cheesecake Kisses, reviewed

Hershey’s is getting more creative with what they put into their signature Kisses. Caramel and peanut butter, two staples of the filled Kisses line, seem downright ordinary compared to their newer offerings, like New York Cheesecake Kisses. Chocolate covered cheesecake sounds good in any situation and it’s no different when it comes in kiss form – after all, it’s what made me pick up the package!

These kisses seem slightly larger than the average kiss and have a slightly rounded top, which seems to indicate that they were molded (due to the filling)  rather than dropped into a kiss/chocolate chip shape. The milk chocolate coating is creamy, and softer than the chocolate found in a regular kiss. It complemented the filling well in taste and texture. The filling itself tasted slightly tangy, slightly sweet, and very much like a classic cheesecake. New York Style Cheesecake is known for being dense, heavy and silky smooth. The kiss filling doesn’t quite fit that mark, but it does have a texture that is much closer to cheesecake than your average cream filling. In short, they’re very tasty and will save you a few calories over a real slice of cheesecake when you’re looking for a fix in a pinch.

The chocolates are being billed as “Limited Edition” but I have a feeling that I’ve seen them once before, so they may be a type of kiss that has been “limited” several times. I didn’t notice any whole bags of these kisses available when I bought these, just small 5-piece packages. Clearly they’re intended to be given as a little valentine and, while I wouldn’t mind having a bigger bag around, this pack really is the perfect size for snacking.
