Happy Birthday Cake Pan

Happy Birthday Pan

I usually frost birthday cakes or cupcakes. Partially this is because a frosted cake will usually look a little bit more impressive than an unfrosted cake (always a nice touch at a party), but the main reason that I frost birthday cake is to decorate it. A little bit of piping around the edge of a cake can really give it a clean look, and, of course, it looks a lot better to write “Happy Birthday” on a background of frosting than on raw cake. Unless you use the Happy Birthday Cake Pan, of course.

This silicone cake pan has the words “Happy Birthday” molded all the way around the rim, so there is no need to decorate your birthday cake beyond popping it out of the pan. The cake can be served as a single layer or doubled up, as shown above. The mold can also be used for jello or even for making a giant birthday ice cube. The pan is just about 8-inches in diameter (21 cm) and will work with any recipe designed for an 8-inch cake without needing any adjustments.

True… but I think it would be a lot of fun to decorate this cake! You could outline the letters with icing… you could frost the whole thing lightly and then decorate the letters so they really pop. Then again, I am a frosting girl… and I use it as more than decoration… I usually love the frosting more than the cake… unless it’s an amazing cake (or bad, overly sugary frosting).

Yikes! Am I the only person who thinks that’s hideously ugly? The cake just looks so messy. And unfinished. Cute idea, but I think Megan’s idea would be the only way to go!
