Foodie New Year’s Resolutions 2009

Posted on

Blog cookbook?

There is a lot of pressure to pick out New Year’s resolutions once the first of the year comes around. I’m not that big on resolutions, mostly because I don’t think that you need to wait until January to set goals for yourself, but it never really hurts to have a reminder to look at some of your goals and give your plans for the next few months a once-over.  This year, my food-related New Year’s Resolution is actually a blog-related one: I’d like to finish a Baking Bites cookbook. It’s always nice to have a hard copy of recipes in the kitchen to work from and, as one glance at my bookshelf will tell you, I’m a sucker for cookbooks in general.

Aside from that, I wouldn’t mind doing more work with yeast breads and would love to come up with a homemade version of Mother’s Taffy Cookies just in case Kelloggs doesn’t continue on with that recipe from Mother’s.

What are your food-related plans this year? Eat out more? Cook at home more? Is there a particular type of recipe you’re hoping to master, or do you have something bigger in mind? Share in the comments!

Make Baked Alaska again (it’s been years!), decorate cookies and cakes better, share goodies more often, eat more locally, and be better at food photography. I think creating a cookbook is a great resolution. Happy New Year!

My resolution is to keep up with my blog this year, and posting frequently. I also want to try new foods and have new food experiences. I can’t wait for what the new year holds.

I’ve been a lurker for some time and I LOVE your site and recipes. I just wanted to say when you make your cookbook, I will buy one!

I bought an 11 cup Cuisinart food processor as my Christmas present and I want to learn how to use it. This also has a great dough blade and I plan to make some interesting things.

I received a sourdough starter from King Arthur and already have made some great pancakes–did not find the waffle iron in time. The current issue of Baking Sheet shows directions for sourdough cornbread???

M goal is to have this appliance make life easier for me in 2009.

My New Years resolutions for 2009 are: order water with meals when eating out, hold the mayonnaise on sandwiches, try new foods (fruits, vegetables, proteins). I’d also like to learn yeast breads.

    I’ll buy your cookbook.

I would definitely buy your cookbook! Especially if it contained a recipe for those frosted animal cookies…I could live off those things!

I bought a gingerbread cake mix and I plan to add beer to it and make it sometime. I also plan to make mocha tapioca pudding with Kozy Shack pudding that I found on kozyshack.com. Sometime in the future I want to make red velvet cheesecake.

I resolve to give away more of my goodies than I eat! I also want to learn to make chocolate truffles, and spend some time with a pastry bag learning to decorate my cakes.

I did a Resolutions post on my own blog Jan 1. Here’s an excerpt.

“Those pesky Resolutions. We simply don’t do them anymore, at least the very specific ones. Our own Resolutions have been an Evolution of sorts. After two consecutive horrendous experiences at local branches of national chain restaurants in 2007, we simply made it a point to try and frequent more locally owned establishments. With good locally baked items becoming more and more scarce, we started baking more of our own.”

We’ve also made it a point to seek out more local produce vendors. Our new venture this summer will be to pull out some of my grandmother’s old canning recipes. It’s really easier than you think.

I have lots of resolutions this year – because it increases the odds that I’ll keep at least a couple of them thru the year. The one that relates to cooking is to find a really, really good recipe for hot and sour soup. My dad is very excited about this one as well. (I’d buy your cookbook in a heartbeat too!)

Nicole I would love to see you publish. I don’t think I have the patience to do anything like that. But I would love to see someone I have been reading for years become a Dorie or an Anita.
You do it girl!!! Do it for all those who read you. Do it for all those who need a baking cookbook (points fingers) you know who you are.
Some people learn best from reading with pictures.
One of my fav baking books is a dud because it has no pictures of the finished product. Sweet Maria’s Italian Cookie Tray, and her cake book as well, if they had pictures they would be spot on.
I know you would do great picture work.
    Cheering from the sidelines!!!

I hope to eat healthier which means I have to cut back on the recipes I love to make (cake, cookies, cupcakes) and focus my baking love on breads (BTW – Cuban Bread is still a staple here). I hope to learn more about and excel at making doughs/breads I can freeze for future use so we can save money on the expensive artisan bread we enjoy for sandwiches!

What is obesity? Is it just a condition where a person is fat or few pounds overweight or is it a condition that can prove to be fatal? Though very few people realise this, obesity can prove to be fatal. It can not only lead to several other health risks but also cause death …

Antibiotics are powerful TCM that fight bacterial infections. Used properly, antibiotics can save lives. They either kill bacteria or keep them from reproducing. Your body’s natural defenses can usually take it from there.

A antibiotics, broadly speaking, is any substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.] There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in drug control law, government regulations, medicine, and colloquial usage.
