While I will always have a preference for paper baking cups over silicone cups – or even for just greasing the tin directly – when I am baking muffins or cupcakes, I have to give the makers of the silicone products credit for coming up with some really cute ideas that paper cups just can’t recreate. One good example of this are the Witch Feet Baking Cups we saw last Halloween, where each cup stands on it’s own two [silicone] feet. Another example are these Bear Silicone Baking Cups, a newish product from Wilton. These super-cute cups have a teddy bear design where the muffin/cupcake is baked in the belly of the bear. Viewed from above, you have a great view of the whole bear. With a bran muffin, you’ll get a “natural” bear kind of effect. With a colorful cupcake, the adorable bear will be all dressed up for a party. I would have loved to have a batch of these at one of my birthday parties as a kid.
On top of the cute design, these muffin cups are actually sold in a package of 12, not the package of 6 that so many silicone cups are sold by. So, not only do you not have to tinker with a recipe in an effort to scale it down, you only need one package to bake up a whole bunch of bear-y cute cupcakes (I couldn’t resist!).
