Individual Pie Slice Pan

slice panBaking desserts in single-serving portions is nothing new. Cupcake pans, ramekins, tartlet dishes and other miniature pans, for instance, all produce small desserts. The new Individual Pie Slice Pan  from Baker’s Catalogue does, too.

The idea behind the pan is twofold. First, the pan makes it easy for those people/families who don’t need a whole pie at a time to enjoy a slice at a time without baking an entire pie. Second, the pan prevents the filling of the pie from oozing out once it is sliced (a fairly common problem with fruit pies because of the variable amount of natural juice in fruit), since these slices come ready made.

The pan can also be used for other “runny” desserts, like cobblers and crisps, as well as just about anything you might want a large-sized ramekin for, including souffles, bread puddings, custards, etc. And you can always use it for a pot pie or other savory dish, too.  The 5-inch wedges are very visually appealing and make for a lovely presentation, even if you don’t try to turn out a fully-sealed slice.

I saw these too Nic… Have you gotten a set? The last thing I need to do is order more kitchen stuff without knowing what kind of kitchen we will end up with out here in Minneapolis!

That is way cool… I might hesitate slightly because of the high cost of electricity. You could bake a bunch though and freeze them I suppose…ciao

This is really cool if you’re just one person and desperate for pie.
